The college library is housed on the first floor in a spacious and well-ventilated block right above the administrative block. With a separate reading room and a reference section, Periodical section, Reprographic Section and so on the library serves as a central information centre for students, teachers and researchers. There are more than 53,800 books, 50 Journals 43 Magazines and 12 newspapers available for students and staff to browse through. There is also an exclusive Book Bank facility for students belonging to SC/ST & Minoritires. These books have been provided by Bangalore University & UGC RC. Internet facility is available under the aegis of UGC's Network Resource Centre (NRC) Scheme. BMS Library serves as a central information centre for all kinds of information needs of its clientele. It endeavours to improve upon its services by adopting the best practices and implementing them for the benefit of patrons.

1.Circulation Service

 
The rich collection of information resources in the library is made available to the students, teachers and researchers for circulation. The library has been fully automated using NewGenLib integrated library management software. The entire collection and membership records are bar-coded and circulation transactions are made through the software.
 

2.Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)


The bibliographic details of the entire library collection are made available through online public access catalogue. Users can search and browse through the catalogue without any intervention of the library staff.

3. Reference Service:


The Library has a very rich collection of reference sources with more than 20,000 reference sources, the reference section caters to all kinds of reference queries. It has a seating capacity of 75 for students and 15 for staff for serious intellectual pursuit.

4. Periodicals:


To fulfill the current information needs and to keep users abreast with the recent trends and developments in various disciplines, the library subscribes to 50 journals, 43 magazines and 12 newspapers. Periodicals serve the serious as well as recreational information needs.

5. Internet Based Information service/ Network Resource Centre:


Under the aegis of UGC, a Network Resource Centre (NRC) has been established. The NRC acts as a gateway to a wide array of web based information sources. Faculty and students can access the internet for information search and retrieval..

6. UGC Book Bank:


Apart from the collection procured by the college, an exclusive collection of books has been developed out of the grants provided by UGC.

7. SC/ST Book Bank:


To fulfill the current information needs and to keep users abreast with the recent trends and developments in various disciplines, the library subscribes to 50 journals, 43 magazines and 12 newspapers. Periodicals serve the serious as well as recreational information needs.

8. ADD-ON Course Books:


The College offers several Add-On courses and books relating to these courses are offered for reference.

9. Reprographic Service:


The library has a photocopying machine and reprographic service is offered on a nominal charge.

10. Information alert service/News paper clipping service:


Any important news, notices, circulars and other relevant information is notified on the notice board of the library.

11. INFLIBNET NLIST PROGRAMME


The library is a member of INFLIBNET N-LIST Programme. N-LIST Programme provides access to more than 4000 e-journals (including current issues with 10 years back files) and 1,25,000 e-books.

12. Institutional Repository:


In order to harness the collective intelligence and wisdom of faculty members and make it available to them, an institutional repository has been set up using DSpace Digital Library Software. This institutional repository consists of the research papers, articles, conference papers, presentations of faculty members. These documents are being added to the repository.

13. Institutional Membership/Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service:


With the objective of getting the best knowledge resources to the users of the library, institutional membership of libraries of reputed institutions has been availed. BMS Library is an institutional member of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB), Bangalore University Library, British Library and Indian Institute of Science (IISC). Through this institutional membership, interlibrary loan facility is provided to the students and staff.
